چکیده
cavernous hemangioma is a rare benign tumor of the internal auditory canal (iac) of which fourteen cases have been reported so far. tinnitus and progressive sensorineural hearing loss (snhl) are the chief complaints of the patients. audiological and radiological planes, ctscan, and magnetic resonance image (mri) studies are helpful in diagnosis. the only choice of treatment is surgery with elective transmastoid trans¬labyrinthine approach. and if tumor is very large, the method of choice will be retrosigmoid approach.

متن کاملDumbbell schwannomas of the internal auditory canal.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Benign tumors of the internal auditory canal (IAC) may leave the confines of the IAC fundus and extend into inner ear structures, forming a dumbbell-shaped lesion. It is important to differentiate dumbbell lesions, which include facial and vestibulocochlear schwannomas, from simple intracanalicular schwannomas, as surgical techniques and prognostic implications are affect...

A 45-year-old man presented with slowly progressive left-sided hearing loss of 5 years duration. Examination revealed bilateral sensorineural hearing loss, more severe on the left, with poor speech discrimination on the left. Brainstem-evoked-response audiometry demonstrated borderline prolongation of interpeak latencies and poor early wave identification on the left side. A retrocochlear lesio...
متن کاملLipochoristoma of the internal auditory canal.
PROBLEM Approximately 90% of tumours of cerebellopontine angle and internal auditory canal are vestibular schwannomas (acoustic neuromas) and meningiomas. Lipochoristomas are rare benign masses that represent only 0.15% of cases. METHODOLOGY We report the case of a 39-year-old man who consulted us for right-sided hearing loss and tinnitus. RESULTS Tonal audiometry showed a down-sloping righ...
متن کاملLipochoristoma of the Internal Auditory Canal
Neoplasms arising within the internal acoustic canal (IAC) and cerebellopontine angle (CPA) are most commonly of neuroepithelial origin. Vestibular schwannoma represents the most common lesion in the IAC (80–90%) with meningiomas comprising nearly all the rest (10%) of IAC tumors.1–3 Rare tumors include epidermoids, lipochoristomas, and metastatic tumors. Each of these lesions has typical imagi...
